3 Ways to Change Your Apple ID

If you'd like to change your Apple ID, there are a couple ways to go about it. However, there are times when this can be a problem. This article will help you figure out what to do, to get the results you need. Read on!
STEPS
METHOD 1 OF 3: CHANGING YOUR EXISTING APPLE ID

1
SIGN IN TO YOUR APPLE ID ACCOUNT. Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/, and click on "Manage your Apple ID."

2
CLICK "NAME, ID, AND EMAIL ADDRESSES." Locate your existing Apple ID, and click the blue Edit label to the right of your ID.

3
ENTER YOUR NEW APPLE ID. Use an email address that's not likely to change.[1]
METHOD 2 OF 3: CREATING A NEW APPLE ID IN ITUNES

1
OPEN ITUNES. If you have an Apple ID from mac.com or me.com, you will not be able to change your existing ID. You will need to create a new one. From the Store menu, select "Sign Out," and then from the same menu, select "Create Apple ID."

2
FILL IN THE FORM. After you click "Create Apple ID," you'll be asked to read the terms and conditions before you continue. After you do that, you'll be presented with a form to fill in.
Email: enter your primary email address here. A verification email will be sent there.
Password: enter your favorite password. It must be eight characters, include an upper case letter and a lower case letter, and a number.
Security questions: pick three questions from the popup menus, and provide answers you will remember.
Optional rescue email: in case you forget your password and your security questions.
Date of birth. Some Apple store titles are restricted to ages 17 and older.
Email choices. You can choose to receive emails from Apple. If those are not of interest, deselect them before continuing.
When you're done, click "Continue."

3
ENTER YOUR PAYMENT INFORMATION. When you've filled everything out, click the "Create Apple ID" button at the bottom of the page. Congratulations, you have a new ID![2]
METHOD 3 OF 3: CREATING A NEW APPLE ID AT APPLE.COM

1
GO TO THE APPLE ID HOME PAGE. Navigate to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/, and click on "Create an Apple ID."

2
ENTER YOUR NEW APPLE ID AND PASSWORD. Your Apple ID must be a valid email address that's not in use and not a domain owned by Apple. Enter and confirm your password, as well.

3
ENTER YOUR SECURITY QUESTION. Make sure this is something you're not going to forget, but would be hard for somebody to guess. You can even choose your own security question!

4
ENTER YOUR NAME AND BIRTHDATE. Apple has some restorations on downloads if you're under 17.

5
ENTER YOUR ADDRESS AND LANGUAGE. Apple can tailor what you see to your native language.

6
CHECK YOUR PREFERENCES. You can have Apple send you emails and newsletters—or not! If you already have an Apple ID, and are getting all the email you need, you can leave those options unchecked.
